August 2 Houghton County Marina

Published by Kip at 8:43 pm under Uncategorized

Before I tell you about today let me tell you about yesterday and last night. Things got worse after I posted the blog and it was a really wild ride on the boat as the afternoon progressed and the W wind continued to blow. By dinner time things settled down a bit but by 1100 the wind and waves got worse. I was surprised that none of the boys got seasick. It reminded me of the horrible night we spent on the boat at Beaver Island in Lake Michigan in August 2007. Will and the boys were up and gone by 0430 for their long drive to St. Louis. I went back to bed and was up at 0800 to start laundry and a general cleanup of the boat. Things looked good by the time John Robertson arrived at 1630. We ate dinner on board. I plan to turn in early to enjoy a good night’s sleep now that the winds have dropped. Tomorrow we plan to go up to the Upper Entry and then W about 35 NM to Ontonagon which will put us about 1/3 of the way to the Apostle Islands. The forecast is for E and then S winds so it should be a good day that might allow us to sail. Will will be posting some pictures today or tomorrow so stay tuned!
